8th Annual SBC Golf Day 2021

Compassion. Connect. Kindness.

A few weeks ago on Friday the 26th of November SSPAN was invited to be a part of the 8th Annual Shoalhaven Business Chamber Charity Golf Day to help raise some much needed funds for charities in the Shoalhaven area.

The weather couldn’t dampen the mood

This year, the Golf day was raising funds for the Shoalhaven Education Fund, Shoalhaven KIds in Need and of course our own Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention and Awareness Network. All three charities were extremely glad to see the event return as it had to be cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side on the day of the event, but that didn’t affect the attendees who turned out in force to help raise money.

The attendees tried to play on despite the terrible weather but as the rainfall became too heavy the event moved inside where the guests had drinks and mingled as the cheques were presented to the participating charities.

The spirit of Giving was strong

All the attendees on the Golf Day dug deep and raised a huge amount for the participating charities. A whopping $11,594 was raised on the day which was so generously matched by Geoff O’Connell from the Kinghorn Motor Group bringing the total to $23,180 to be split amongst the three charities.

SSPAN could not continue working within the Shoalhaven community to raise awareness of suicide, promote recovery from mental illness and build individual and community resilience in the Shoalhaven area without this generous support.

We can’t thank the Business Chamber, Macey Insurance Brokers, Kinghorn Motor Group, other sponsors, businesses and individuals who showed up enough for their generous contributions and hope you continue to give generously so we can continue doing the work we do.
